Description

Being a homeschool family, we never miss celebrating Eid (a Muslim holiday) together.

Family is very important to me, since I don’t have my immediate family here. I wanted my own family to be very close. I wanted our children to grow up in a loving environment, and that’s the reason we chose homeschooling.

When my eldest son reached high school, we decided to change things up; we enrolled him in public school.

However, I was constantly worried about his safety and well-being. Then, we found out It was hard for us to take him out from school for our religious holidays.

As a homeschool mom, I’m also a coach and cheerleader to my children. I’m very good at juggling my time between homeschooling, taking care of my family, as well as running my art business from home.

One day before Eid, my son got a permission slip to take a ½ day off from school due to a religious holiday. The morning of Eid, we were all ready to go to Eid prayer. There were a lot of familiar faces at the gathering.

We gave out cookies that I made prior to Eid. Everyone was happy and cheerful. Children ran around, groups of men and women congratulated each other, and laughter could be heard everywhere.

I felt so grateful and thankful, especially that my son could join us for the Eid celebration. Now it was time to go home and he needed to be in school.

After we sent him off to school, we went home. My husband suggested that we go for a walk around the neighborhood. I felt kinda sad because every single year we never missed celebrating Eid together, and for the first time I realized that this is how most Muslim families here have to endure missing their children on Eid. I tried to be happy and just ignore how I felt because I have my husband and my other son to attend to.

As we strolled down the neighborhood, my eyes suddenly spotted a rose bush. What was so special about it?! It had two-tone roses. The roses were made up of both red and yellow. I was so excited that I had discovered this two-tone rose and took pictures of it to capture the moment.

I decided to create a painting of this rose. I couldn’t wait to paint the beautiful petals and the water droplets that were delicately resting on the petals.

I named this painting ‘Adha Rose’ because I found it on Eidul Adha.

As I completed the original painting, I gave extra attention to the details on the petals, especially the beads of water.

This rose painting will be a special memento for me as the rose was found on a blessed day, and it gave me peace knowing that everything I did as a homeschool mom was worth it.

I offer prints of the Adha Rose, in paper and canvas, in multiple sizes. For canvas prints, you can choose either canvas wrap or with a floating frame. I think you’ll love our framed canvas print, as it comes in gold — it will instantly elevate the look of your home!

Flowers may not last long, but with a painting you can preserve it and hang it on your wall.
